Background information about 'Aetas Ascensus'
There are records that creep up on you, and then there are those that hit you square in the chest from the first note. Servant's "Aetas Ascensus" is definitely the latter. This is black metal that doesn't just aim for atmosphere — it grabs you by the throat and drags you through a storm of raw emotion, blistering riffs, and haunting melodies. Originally released independently, this Digipak re-issue via AOP Records gives the album the platform it truly deserves.
The production strikes that perfect balance between grit and clarity — every tremolo-picked guitar line cuts through like a blade, while the rhythm section pounds with relentless urgency. But what really sets "Aetas Ascensus" apart is the sheer emotional weight behind the chaos. There's a melancholic undercurrent running through these tracks, a sense of longing and despair that feels deeply personal rather than theatrical. The vocals are raw, desperate, and utterly convincing. This isn't background music — this is the kind of record that demands your full attention, preferably with the volume cranked and the lights dimmed.
