Background information about 'Elemental Part One: Mourning Earth'

Fen have reached a breathtaking zenith with "Elemental Part One: Mourning Earth", their eighth full-length that strips away excess to reveal the raw, beating heart of their artistry. This East Anglian trio has crafted something genuinely extraordinary here – a deliberate return to their foundational elements while incorporating two decades of musical evolution. Where their previous effort "Monuments to Absence" was dense and relentless, this new chapter breathes with organic life, recorded largely live to capture those natural rhythms that make black metal truly transcendent.

The album flows like morning mist over fenland bogs, revealing layers of melancholy and majesty with each passing moment. From the glacial grandeur of opener "Glacier" through the tectonic shifts of emotion in tracks like "Massif" and "Abyssal Plain", Fen have achieved that elusive perfect balance between their black metal roots and post-black metal innovations. The closing duo of "Barrow" and "Moor" leaves listeners suspended in that liminal space between despair and hope, where the whispers of ancient spirits bound to English soil echo through time.

For fans of:
Agalloch, Alcest, Wolves In The Throne Room, Drudkh, Winterfylleth
