Originally conceived as a commissioned work for the Roadburn Festival 2024 under the title "Music for Gloaming: A Nocturne", this album emerges fully formed in recorded splendor. Drawing inspiration from black metal pioneer Quorthon and minimalist composers such as Philip Glass and György Ligeti, "Nocturne" stands as an ambitious blend of raw energy and intricate artistry. HEXVESSEL, founded by English artist Kvohst (Mat McNerney) after relocating to Finland in 2009, have consistently reflected his diverse musical background—from UK black metal outfit CODE to projects like BEASTMILK (later GRAVE PLEASURES).
